Visa Overview
Kenya is a spectacular East African destination—famous for world-class safaris, dramatic landscapes like the Great Rift Valley, and a strong business ecosystem around Nairobi. Most travellers (including Indians) need Kenya’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) approved before travel—this system replaces traditional visa requirements for most visitors, and final entry is still granted at the immigration counter. The most common option is the Standard eTA (single entry), with alternatives like Transit eTA (for stopovers) and One-Year Multi-Entry eTA for frequent travellers; fees start from USD 30 (Standard) and USD 20 (Transit). Applications typically require a passport with minimum 6 months validity, a recent selfie/photo, travel itinerary, and accommodation booking details, and are usually processed within 72 hours/3 business days (expedited processing is also available). With Rose Travels, you get complete support—right from document checklist and application filling to careful verification and smooth submission—so your Kenya travel planning stays effortless and approval-ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
Kenya currently uses an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) (often referred to as an “e-visa”). It’s an online travel authorisation that helps determine a traveller’s eligibility to enter the country before departure.
In most cases, yes—foreign visitors are required to obtain an approved eTA before travelling, unless they fall under an exempt category.
All travellers (including infants/children) need an approved eTA unless exempt. Exemptions include citizens of the East African Community (EAC) and certain other categories listed by the Government of Kenya on the official portal.
Standard processing is around 3 working days (an urgent option may be available). It’s recommended to apply at least 2 weeks before travel, and no later than 3 days before departure.
Once approved, the eTA is sent by email as a PDF. You should present it at departure and on arrival.
You apply online via the official eTA website/app: create an account, complete the form, upload documents, make payment, and submit. You can also track your application on the same portal.
It’s a fully online process (apply from anywhere), with digital document upload, online payment, and application tracking—designed to simplify the entry process.
For short visits, it is commonly issued as a single-entry authorisation and generally supports a stay up to 90 days (subject to immigration approval).
No—payments are non-refundable, even if the application is rejected.
Yes. If your authorisation is single-entry, you will need to apply again for your next trip.
Extensions are handled as an Extension of Visitor’s Pass by Directorate of Immigration Services (Kenya) and are subject to approval.
For most short visits, the key requirement is the eTA. For longer stays or specific purposes, Kenya processes permits/passes separately through immigration services.

Kenya Travel Guide
Widely regarded as one of the best safari destinations in the world, Kenya is famous for spotting the “Big Five”—elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo. Over the years, big game hunting has been replaced by responsible, eco-friendly wildlife safaris, making Kenya one of Africa’s top tourism hotspots. Beyond safaris, Kenya’s national parks also offer a wide mix of experiences—everything from hiking and nature trails to coastal relaxation, scuba diving, beach time, and wellness escapes.
Two of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes are Mount Kenya and the Maasai Mara. Mount Kenya is a dramatic range of high peaks, often snow-capped, and is the country’s highest mountain chain. The Maasai Mara, on the other hand, is a vast stretch of open savannah—home to the proud Maasai community and the legendary annual wildebeest migration, one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles.
Kenya’s charm isn’t limited to wildlife. Its history stretches back to prehistoric times, and visitors can explore cultural and historical sites like Fort Jesus (a UNESCO-listed landmark) and the atmospheric Old Town of Lamu Island, both reflecting Kenya’s layered past influenced by European colonial rule and Arab trade routes.
Accommodation options in Kenya range from budget stays to high-end luxury resorts. A popular and growing trend is eco-lodges, often designed as premium tents or locally crafted huts—blending comfort, safety, and sustainability. Booking in advance is recommended for smoother planning. For food, a great tip is to ask your hotel staff or follow where locals dine—Kenyan cuisine is typically hearty and simple, and grilled/barbecued meats are a must-try for many travellers.
Most visitors arrive via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. Many travellers spend a day or two in the capital before heading to wildlife reserves. Getting around can sometimes be challenging due to road conditions, but exploring by organised tour bus or a hired jeep often makes the journey easier—and can be part of the adventure.
